No matter how many times you’ve told yourself, “next year, I’m not going to wait until the last minute”, April 15 still manages to creep up on you. Here’s something that might ease some of that pain. Last minute tax filers have been taking advantage of free online fax services, like MyFax, to send their documents to tax preparers. Their free service, like with many of their competitors, allow you to send a certain number of faxes and/or pages a day. In the case of My Fax, you are allotted two faxes per day of up to 10 pages without going through the fuss of setting up an account or providing a credit card number. Users beware, if you start abusing the free service, they will start asking you to upgrade to the paid version and potentially suspend your free service. With this in mind, procrastinators need to plan a little in advance to ensure their tax preparers get all their documents within the 2 faxes per day of up to 10 pages limit.

Until today, MyFax has been owned by pFax. Today, Protus, a leading provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) communications tools for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), announced that it has acquired pFax, including MyFax.

Companies are selected based on its employees’ opinion, survey scores and comments, which demonstrate why it is a great place to work. MyFax’s parent company received a positive response rate of 84% on its survey results.
The ECA program selected ten companies for this award using in-depth employee surveys which they believe provides valuable affirmation of employee motivation factors and satisfaction drivers, as well as opportunities for continuous improvement.
The Bergeron Companies and MyFax team up to connect Bergeron’s headquarters and remote offices. The Bergeron Companies encompasses three brands under its umbrella: Adaptivemall.com, Special Tomato, and Keekaroo. As the company grew, it opened remote offices to meet its changing needs and embraced Internet technology like switching to Voice over IP (VoIP) to save money and make communication between offices easier. However, this change eliminated the phone lines needed to connect to fax machines realized COO Katie Bergeron Peglow, who selected MyFax.
“MyFax has made sending and receiving faxes very easy,” Peglow said. “They”re no longer tied to a fax machine in one location. When someone sends me a fax it goes straight to my email inbox. If I need to forward it I can do it as easily as I would any other email, and it doesn”t lose quality like it used to when it would bounce from fax machine to fax machine.”
Not only did Internet based fax services solve the faxing while using VoIP dilemma, it also resulted in a cost savings. The Bergeron Companies are no longer paying for fax machines that need to be replaced every couple of years, the toner and paper they consume, or dedicated phone lines. Also, setup of the fax service for new remote offices takes only several minutes.
