Fax Services

Many people have asked me why I choose to write about Fax Services.  That’s a very good question.  The industry fascinates me.  While fax machines have now been used for decades, they are dying out.  Why would anyone still use faxes when there is email?

But fax machines are still out there, by the millions.  So how do people who have switched to the Internet age deal with them?  They’ve moved to online faxing.  Just because you are still stuck using an outdated technology doesn’t mean that I need to be.  Fax Services allow me to receive all faxes directly to my email.  So I don’t need to have a fax machine to communicate with the millions who for some strange reason find fax superior to email.

I think everyone recognizes that fax machines are on the way out.  Online fax service companies are the bridge.  They are the link from old fax technology to new email technology.  And that’s why the industry fascinates me.

When the last person finally replaces their fax machine with email, what will happen to the online fax companies?  Obviously, they will go out of business.  So I guess that’s the part that intigues me most.  The Internet fax business is clearly going away.  When email came out and people started replacing fax with email, the fax services people were excited.  It gave them an opportunity to have a business that makes a lot of money.  But as the transition continues, there will be less and less fax people for the email people to communicate with and the business will eventually wither and die.
